About Shiang Studios
In high school, James loved watching Peter McKinnon, a Toronto-based photographer and filmmaker, who posted photography tips and tricks to his YouTube channel. His videos inspired James to dive into the art of photography and start capturing and telling stories like his. From the moment his first camera arrived in the mail, he knew telling stories with his camera was what he wanted to do. James started in the wedding industry as a photographer, but soon discovered a love for videography. The music, foley, and sound effects enhanced the films he watched, and he immediately knew he wanted to be a videographer.
More about James
With a degree in Political Science from UConn, James developed the communication skills, thoughtfulness, and adaptability that shape the way he films weddings. Studying how people connect, collaborate, and navigate fast-paced situations trained him to be calm, clear, and attentive in moments when multiple things happen at once. It underscored the values that guide his work today—communication, intentionality, and genuine care. As your videographer, you can trust that he’ll listen closely, anticipate needs, move seamlessly through your day, and create a film rooted in understanding what truly matters to you.
James’ Mission
James strives to create films that tells your unique story: the special bond you have with your partner, the way you two smile at each other, and the inside jokes you have are unlike any other couple. His candid and cinematic style blends elevated imagery with your heartfelt vows and reception speeches.
There’s something so special about being able to revisit, replay, and relive the memories from your wedding. James is ecstatic when his couples tell him watching their videos make them cry tears of joy. Read his reviews to learn about other couples’ experiences.
